All of the '90s and 2000s Teen-Film Easter Eggs You Most likely Missed in "Do Revenge"

Although Netflix’s newest campy revenge comedy, “Do Revenge”, is about in a Gen-Z world, it cleverly imbues the angsty teenage drama with traditional nods to fashionable motion pictures from the ’90s and the early aughts. Directed and cowritten by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (“Somebody Nice”), “Do Revenge” tells the story of a former It lady, Drea (Camila Mendes), whose social standing at her preppy highschool takes an enormous hit when her intercourse tape will get leaked by her boyfriend (performed by “Euphoria”‘s Austin Abrams) whereas all her fair-weather pals flip towards her. Fueled with rage, Drea joins arms with newly transferred Eleanor (Maya Hawke) to actual revenge on those that damage them prior to now.

From recreating sure beloved elements of cult-classic teen motion pictures like “Merciless Intentions” and “Imply Women” to incorporating delicate callbacks from “Jawbreaker” and “Promising Younger Ladies,” listed here are all of the methods by which “Do Revenge” deftly pays homage to nostalgic Y2K cinema.
